Emily Teachout
Collages have been my outlet for self-expression since I was a tween. I remember spending hours in my room ripping apart fashion magazines and creating poster-sized collages splattered with images of perfumes, cityscapes, lips, eyes, makeup, handbags, and anything else I could find. These collages were free, abstract, and a direct reflection of my burgeoning passions and interests.
As my personality developed and my interests and values expanded, so did my art, allowing me to find a home in pieces that celebrate femininity, criticize religion, and expose inequality and injustice. I strive for every piece I make to carry meaning - every image and placement is purposeful and thoughtful. My wish is for my art to resonate with others who feel the same way I do about the world, share interests in pop culture, and enjoy some cheeky humor!
