Art Archiving Services
Preserving Your Legacy for the Future
As an artist, I understand how difficult it is to be organized. Scattered ideas come together to create something magical on canvas, paper, or film, but scattered ideas don’t translate well when you’re trying to organize your collection. You want to sort through everything - arrange your artwork, describe the pieces, create a list of exhibition history, and more. But finding the time and ability to tackle such a tedious project feels impossible and stifles your creativity. Plus, knowing the best way to preserve your legacy can feel daunting.
That’s where I come in.
With a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science, seven years of experience working in an archive, and personal and professional experience creating, selling, and displaying my own art, I’ve developed the skills necessary to protect your artistic legacy. It has been my dream to help local artists organize their unique collections. These works are not just personal - they’re a vital link to our regional culture, deserving of proper preservation for future generations. In fact, your works of art will likely become historically significant for your community and serve as valuable additions to local museums and archives. Let’s preserve your legacy and discover your art’s full potential together.
Services Offered
-
PHONE CONSULTATION
The initial consultation is designed to address your specific needs and goals. We will discuss the scope of your project, including the volume and current storage of your records, your budgetary considerations, and any other relevant details to ensure a tailored approach.
($50 for up to an hour consultation)
-
NEEDS ASSESSMENT
This assessment goes a little deeper than the phone consultation as we will meet to plan how to address your needs. I will identiy concerns, recommend solutions, and set priorities. The process includes an in-person or virtual site visit, a comprehensive report, and follow-up services (if you are interested in moving forward).
-
DIGITIZATION
Digitization involves two steps: scanning works (smaller pieces) or taking photographs of works and creating metadata for each file.
I will also teach you the pros and cons of file types and different digital storage options.
-
ARRANGEMENT
This is the part that can feel so daunting! This service focuses on organizing your art so that it is easily accessible for you, family members, and future institutions (if applicable). This process includes the creation of a catalogue raisonné (a comprehensive list of your works).
-
PRESERVATION
This service centers on safely storing and displaying your artwork to ensure longevity. We will discuss preservation goals, recommendations, and budget.
We will also talk about how to safely and properly exhibit your art at galleries.
-
WEBSITE AND SOCIAL MEDIA
Social media and websites are the bane of an artist’s existence (or at least they are for me!). However, they are crucial for exhibiting your work on your terms and reaching larger audiences (and consumers if you are selling your art).
For this service, I will help you create and design a website and/or social media account, walk you through the ins and outs of creating and editing videos, and teach you how to maintain it all.
